Yes! Google Exec Marissa Mayer Is Yahoo’s New CEO

Marissa Mayer, a top Google executive and Silicon Valley powerhouse, has just been named Yahoo’s CEO, according to a new report from Dealbreaker.
The move is groundbreaking on numerous levels. Mayer, one of a small handful of high-profile, powerful women in the Silicon Valley boys club, will join the fewer than two dozen current female Fortune 500 CEOs. Additionally, at age 37, Mayer will be among the youngest CEOs of a major company in the U.S.
Mayer joins Yahoo at a critical moment in the company. After months of stagnation, Yahoo dropped its past CEO, Carol Bartz, in an ugly, embarrassing split late last year — one that resulted in Bartz’s awkward, curse-laden statement to the press, in which she declared that Yahoo “f–ked me over.”
Needless to say, Mayer faces several challenges — particularly in turning around Yahoo’s clunky branding. Of course, hiring a Silicon Valley celeb shows Yahoo may already be acutely aware of its non-cool-kid status among the tech elite.
