So This Just Happened

Meet Mark Lodes, The GOP Senate Candidate Who Just Dropped The C-Word On Twitter

There must be something in the water in Missouri — because yet another Republican Senate candidate in the Show Me State is showing some good old fashioned misogyny.

Hot on the heels of GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin’s recent rape-pregnancy theory showstopper is a misogynist rant from fellow GOP Senate candidate Mark Lodes, first spotted by Dirty Old Town. Of course, Mark Lodes needs some air-quotes around “Senate candidate,” since he clearly lost the GOP Senate primary and because the guy is as fringy as they come. And never has this been more obvious than the mentally unhinged, anti-woman tirade he unloaded on a few different women on Twitter in the last 48 hours. Yes, c-bombs were dropped:

Oh my.

Now, before you go congratulating this wordsmith for his coinage of the term “cunt of the day,” he’s seemingly referring to this Twitter feed of the same name. Things appeared to turn ugly for Lodes after he referenced the Twitter feed… oh, yea, and when he called a bunch of women the c-word:

The list of offending tweets is long and horrifying, so we’ll just end the narrative there. Needless to say, there’s a lot more of this repeated.

Lest you think Mark Lodes is your cookie-cutter Republican, know that this man is a deep, complex thinker. He’s pro-Obamacare but anti-abortion. He believes in climate change and refuses to accept political donations over $5, which one story on his candidacy pointed out is “the price of a combo deal at Arby’s (a Lodes favorite: ‘#MOBEEF’).” He compares pro-choice women to Nazis. Like I said, the man is a thinker.

And in case you’re under the impression this is all an elaborate prank, AP‘s official primary results, in which he is counted, and here’s a video he posted announcing his candidacy in August 2011:

If only Akin would have dropped out.

So on what position is this guy a Republican?   Many Democrats have been pro-life too, all the other positions you mention are in line with Democrats.
