Why Is Mitt Romney’s Son On Myspace?!

Do you remember erasing your Myspace page soon after starting college, wiping from Internet history your emo high school status updates (what were they even called?!) and deleting comments (the “Facebook wall/timeline” for Myspace) from your pals?

Well, 40-year-old Matt Romney has yet to follow your lead or hop on the crowded bandwagon. BuzzFeed discovered the second oldest son of presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Myspace account on Monday, prompting the young man to put his page in private mode. Myspace may be less than a decade old, but its popularity decreased significantly when Facebook took over the world a few years ago, causing many twenty-somethings and university students to get rid of their Myspace pages in favor of a more “sophisticated” social media platform.

It looks like Matt Romney is finally going to do the same thing, as he responded to BuzzFeed’s story with the tweet, “thanks for reminding me. now if you could just help me remember my password so I can delete it..”

If the Romney campaign can’t do damage control on this crisis, maybe smarmy singer/actor Justin Timberlake can be of some assistance. The bigger question is why he didn’t just delete the page right then and there? Clinging to one’s youth, Matt?
