Meet Eleanor Bruiservelt and Ruth Vader Ginsburg on “Ladypuns”

We all celebrate our feminist ancestors and comrades in different ways. At The Jane Dough, whenever we’re partaking in spirits, we pour out some of our drink while chanting Phyllis Diller’s name. We also like to compile some of our favorite notable/infamous/fascinating women in a bracket and have them duke it out. This little girl goes to school dressed as a different influential woman almost every day. Our mom has one glass of wine and yell-sings to Edith Piaf. Artist Dav Yendler reinvents feminist heroes as visual puns on his Tumblr, Ladypuns.
Interested parties, the way into my heart is simple: be a master of clever wordplay and be as appreciative of historical goddesses and as aware of your unworthiness in comparison as I am. Did Dav Yendler plan on having feminist fangirls swooning over his hilarious and strangely celebratory illustrations? I don’t know, but that’s exactly what’s happening in Jane Dough HQ. (Wait..did he plan this? Are we all just cogs in this great, whirling Internet machine? What kind of witchcraft is this? TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW.)
