All-Male Golf Clubs: Still Going Strong
11:05 am, February 12th | by Hillary Reinsberg
Golf, as a sport in general, tends to be considered something of a boys’ club. But at a few golf clubs across the country, they’re literally “boys’ clubs,” as in, no ladies allowed.
The Chicago Tribune explores the remaining all-male golf club, finding that although it’s often more financially viable to include women, that the gals, well, deter from the ideal bro-fest atmosphere. Here’s what the owner of an all-male golf club had to say on the matter:
He added, though, that the all-male rule also permits a looser dress code and a more “saloon-like atmosphere” than would be possible if women were around.
“We don’t have the tension (the presence of women) brings,” he said.
Ah, “saloon-like atmosphere”! What a nice way of putting it.
