Hilarious Miss New York Contestant Proves Us Wrong About Beauty Queens

Pageant contestants — usually perceived as vapid, plastic blondes whose greatest ambition is to miraculously be responsible for creating “world peace.” But a hilarious aspiring Miss New York contestant is quickly convincing us otherwise.

For her submission video, Laura Hajek (not “Hijack,” she’ll have you know) of Glen Falls, New York sits down for an interview with a bizarre, slightly disfigured puppet named Sheldon Crest. She shows not her ability to model in a bikini, but her ability to be freaking hilarious. (And no, it’s not a fake! Her video, which The Observer dug up, is really on the Miss New York website):

Were we totally wrong about our perceptions of beauty queens? Not totally, no:

(Regarding the second video) To see what a bunch of dumb bunnies these are, just substitute “Theory of Gravity” for “Theory of Evolution” and see how stupid they sound. Gravity and Evolution are both FACTUAL in basis, not a wild guess. In science, a theory is something that is supported by experiments and observations. The thing most people are thinking of as a “theory” (thinking is just an opinion or guess) is called a “hypothesis” in science.

Laura is from Glens Falls, NY.  Good luck Laura!

Wow Laura Hajek is the wittiest girl I’ve ever seen try to win a beauty contest! Whatta star!

Well, I got to 4:34 on the Hajek video because your video system apparently cannot be paused to allow the video to fully load before playing it making the video stop to buffer ever 8 to 10 seconds.  Nothing in that time was particularly funny so I think I’ll leave it there.
