Must-See T.V.
Watch ‘Mitt Romney’ Get 2% Wasted On Saturday Night Live
12:30 pm, November 12th | by Sarah Devlin
It was a girl power-heavy episode of Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Anne Hathaway hosting to promote Les Misérables and Rihanna performing in her finest repurposed camouflage fatigues. And it was pretty good — one of the strongest episodes all season, thanks to Hathaway’s commitment, the bizarre green screen effects of Rihanna’s set, and newcomers Aidy Bryant, Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon dominating the night. It was awesome to see all of those new ladies in the cast killing it in sketch after sketch. There was a special place in my heart, however, for this week’s cold open, which featured Romney on the balcony drowning his election sorrows in milk.
The characters who came on and off the balcony to entice Romney into joining the pity party (“Paul Ryan is doing feats of strength in the drawing room!” “I’d like to see him carry Wisconsin”) were amusing, but special mention goes to Kate McKinnon’s Ann Romney impersonation, which she was able to haul out one last time before retiring it permanently.
