The Women In This MoveOn.Org Ad Are Really Angry At Romney

It’s not groundbreaking that presidential contender Mitt Romney isn’t wildly popular among women. But the women in a new MoveOn.org ad take their issues with the former Massachusetts governor to another level.

The video, which features multiple females voicing their opinion on the candidate, starts with one of them saying, “Congratulations, Mitt Romney — you’re the presumed GOP nominee.” Other women pop up on screen with displeased expressions and say:

“[You threatened] to let our employers take away our contraception coverage, threaten to let our insurance companies charge us more, just because we’re women, and threaten to get rid of Planned Parenthood, a life-saving source of healthcare for millions of women. So this November, we’re gonna remember how you threw women under the bus, just to get the nomination.”

Zing! Here’s the thing, though. He didn’t exactly have to “[throw] women under the bus just to get the nomination,” as he pretty much had the spot secured from the beginning. Romney was always ahead of his GOP rivals, so it’s not as if he had to neglect females to get where he is today.

If this clip gets around, Romney will have some explaining to do, and he can’t defer to wife Ann this time.

If these women can rise above being a mere sum of their ladyparts, they will recognize their exaggerations and realize they are being used as tools for MoveOn. But they can’t so they won’t.

I noticed Jane dough ignored that Romney is now leading amond woman voters.   Shocking!

  • Anonymous

Actually, Romney is leading in support of women.  OOOPS.

And his lead is despite the fact that Dems were oversampled (yet again) by 6 points.

It’s the ecomony and we aren’t stupid!

    Laura,
When are you going to change this sentence in your piece:

It’s not groundbreaking that presidential contender Mitt Romney isn’t wildly popular among women.

Thank you for once again proving why my username is so accurate.

In general, older and married women trend Republican while single and younger women trend heavily Democrat. Hope that helps :)

If you’re not going to provide the link, then I’m not going to engage with you. Thank you, Inez for doing just that.

I’m not disputing any of this information. If anything, I think this video is overdramatic! I want a violin!

Because I am not going to change my story based on one poll. The polls change all the time. In a week, Obama could be up again. The point is that Romney has historically performed lower among women.

This story is everywhere, you could’ve found it if you wanted to.  The point is, you don’t want to.  Do the work, laura.

That’s great spin.   No wonder the only job you could get in journOlism was with Dan Abrams Inc. where we provide the liberal bias you crave.

The clip only needs to get around in battleground swing states.  But I think this ad, and other MoveOn ads and Funny or Die comedy videos attack ads, only serve as choir music, so to speak, for committed left-wingers (not just women).

If it sounds like a misogynist..

It’s not just one poll.  When Romney’s been “behind” among women, it’s only by a couple points.  The idea that “women hate Romney” is a complete fabrication and you know it.  It must outrage you, as a liberal feminist, to even think of the possibility that women are individuals, each with her own opinions, and some of those opinions are different from yours.  You and your MoveOn.org pimps can scream “sexism” at Mitt Romney for refusing to give you the handouts you demand, but I didn’t see y’all defending any conservative women when they were under attack from liberal misogynists like Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, et. al.

do these women even realize what “moveon” original purpose was when created in the late 90′s?

To move on from the focus of the Bill Clinton sex scandals.

If any republican did the same thing these liberals would be screaming hostile work environment ect.

Well, that Republican would be criticizing a Republican, too.  Or can you think of a Democrat against whom those charges can be made?

In her defense, it’s a recent and under-reported story.  All day I’ve been talking with liberals and conservatives who hadn’t heard, and then when told refused to believe it. Even the rare times it was reported, it was usually done so just for how surprising it was given how he “historically performed lower among women.”

Anecdotal, sure, but it happened, and without purposeful, partisan omission.

Also, it doesn’t change anything in the article except that ground was in fact broken, but nothing of substance.
