Coke CEO Muhtar Kent: ‘If We Can Empower Women There Will Be A Huge Increase In Productivity’ [VIDEO]
3:00 pm, March 10th | by Amy Tennery
Muhtar Kent, CEO of Coca-Cola, knew that women liked his products. But after raiding the pantry of every sorority in America conducting some intense market research in 2007, he learned that a whopping 65 to 70 percent of his shoppers were women. And that profoundly shaped how he ran his company from there on out.
During a talk at the Daily Beast’s Women in the World conference, Kent explained his logic:
“I looked at who’s buying our beverages around the world… And then I looked inside our organization, and I got a totally different number. [Recruiting more women] was good business sense… If we can empower more women — especially in the emerging world but also in the developed world — there is a huge increase in productivity. Twenty-five to 40 percent increase in productivity.”
