Exhausted from the mid-week slump? I bet the folks at Huffington Post aren’t dead tired, as their office has two nap rooms and founder Arianna Huffington advocates for all things sleep-related. She has every reason to concern herself with the shut eye of her employees: naps have been proven to decrease drowsiness, increase alertness, and benefit a person’s health, according to a new infographic.
Most of us know what it’s like to wake up from a short nap feeling super energized and recharged, and there’s a good reason for that. Even a two to five minute nap can perk you up. A five to twenty minute nap can improve your motor skills and performance. A fifty to ninety minute nap is amazing all around and can be useful for repairing bones and muscles. As noted in the infographic, humans consolidate sleeping time for a long period at night, but we’re designed to feel tired in the early morning hours and mid-afternoon, when a 2:00 p.m. nap would feel awesome. Siesta, anyone?
