Newt Gingrich Slams “GCB,” Says A Similar Show About Muslims Would Never Be Made

Like many critics of ABC’s new sitcom “GCB,” which is based off a book called “Good Christian Bitches,” Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich believes the show title is offensive to Christians.

During a Friday campaign stop in Gulfport, Miss., the Catholic former Speaker of the House said a similar program about Muslims would be considered unfit for broadcast and bigoted whereas a show that makes fun of Christians is okay by the Hollywood elite.

“Look at the new show that’s on that has the word ‘Christian’ in it, and I want you to take the exact name, drop out Christian and put in ‘Muslim.’ And ask yourself is there any network that would have dared to run a show like that and you know the answer is not [one],” Gingrich said. “Anti-Christian bigotry is just fine in the entertainment industry but they have to be very protective of Islam.”

Now that “GCB” has received lots of poor and mediocre reviews, gotten flak for stereotyping southern women as manipulative back stabbers, and lost an advertiser, maybe he’ll get his wish and see it go off the air. He may also be pleased to learn that reality series  “All-American Muslim,” which of course had a different storyline than “GCB,” has been canceled.
