Nikki Haley Right That Pinata Smash Was “Creepy”
10:30 am, May 24th | by Laura Donovan
I wasn’t the only one disgusted and creeped out when news surfaced that South Carolina AFL-CIO president, Donna Dewitt smashed a pinata of S.C. governor Nikki Haley’s face over the weekend. The conservative politician was also troubled by the violent act, which is still painful for her to watch.
“It’s creepy. I still hurt every time I see it,” Haley told Greta Van Susteren during a Wednesday airing of On the Record. “This is not typical of South Carolinians. This is typical of union thugs.”
The clip is disturbing, especially since it features lots of cheering as Dewitt swats at the swinging pinata, but that doesn’t mean Haley is going to change the way she helps run her state.
Haley continued about the video:
“All it does is it makes my heels taller, my heels sharper so that I can kick harder. I’m not going to stop beating up on the unions. I’m not going to stop beating up on the Democrats for wasteful spending…I’m a lot tougher than that. I’m going to keep on kicking.”
Given that Dewitt still has yet to apologize for her tasteless behavior at the gathering, Haley will definitely have to remain in fighting mode for a while in case she’s targeted again.
