EOD Saturday: We wrote last week about the underrepresentation of women in the film industry, and it looks like George Lucas heard our prayers. The legendary director is retiring, and LucasFilm announced a new co-chairman, Kathleen Kennedy. [The Mary Sue]
As of May 21, about 20 percent of donations to outside groups like super PACs have come from women in this election cycle, according to nonpartisan research group the Center for Responsive Politics.
With everyone saying that Super PACs are changing elections, maybe they hold the key to ending the underrepresentation of women and women’s issues in politics. Maybe if we close the wage gap, we can buy politicians like everyone else.
