That Time Obama Botched His Daughter’s Hairdo [VIDEO]

As a child, I used to wail while getting ready for school, not just because it was painful when my dad brushed my hair upside down, but because his styling abilities were off. I think Malia Obama knows what I’m talking about, as her own father botched her bun before dance class a few years back.

At a dinner with supporters, President Barack Obama recalled an amusing memory in which he helped his eldest daughter get decked out in ballet mode before a lesson. His wife had been gone that weekend, so his attempt at putting a bun in her hair apparently went up in flames. When Malia got to the studio, one of the other mothers waited until Obama was far away, the president said, to ask to redo the little girl’s hairdo.

“Malia, who is 4, she says ‘yes, please. This is a disaster,’” Obama said. “You know, she didn’t want to hurt daddy’s feelings.”
