Obama Joins Pinterest, Proves He’s Young At Heart

If you haven’t heard by now, I’ll fill you in– Pinterest is the new Facebook. Or, at the very least, it’s a new way for you to not study for your test, write that brief, or to otherwise waste hours of your day. And the newest member to join the ranks of picture-accumulating procrastinators is none other than Barack Obama.

Yup, the president has a Pinterest account. He has amassed nearly 9,000 followers since Tuesday. Not too shabby, though it’s still not even close to the 25 million followers he has on Facebook. But still, it’s sort of endearing to see the president post pictures under categories like “Pet Lovers for Obama” and the oh-so-adorable “Obama 2012 Merch.” Because obviously “merch,” reminiscent of those t-shirts for which you overpaid when you attended that crazy concert, is the perfect way to appeal to the youngins. Well, hey, if Romney’s doing it…

I’m betting that Obama–or more precisely, the college-aged volunteers who’re helping his campaign– will get addicted to Pinterest. And I have the infographic to prove it!

Oh, but before you check it out, here’s a shameless plug: follow The Jane Dough’s Pinterest page! It’s super-cool, and while it doesn’t have photo categories pertaining to pet lovers or merch, I still think it’s kind of rad. And I’m betting you will too.
