Octavia Spencer: “I’m Going To Staple My Boobs To My Shoulders”

Before the Oscars, Best Supporting Actress winner Octavia Spencer sat down with Al Roker to talk about her role in The Help and about how her career has changed. The interview aired this morning on “Today,” highlighted by Spencer’s perspective on why she deeply respects domestic help and…why she’s going to “staple her boobs to her shoulders.”
“Here’s what i have to say for people who just sort of discount what domestics do,” she told Roker. “You’re a dad. Do you not cook for your kids? Do you not make them make their bed, brush their teeth, all the things domestics do, provide them with unconditional love? If we discount what these women did even though it’s for someone else’s kids in addition to their own we are discounting our mothers, fathers, grandparents, those who provide that type of love every day.”
