P&G’s Olympic Ad Celebrates Motherhood, Will Make You Cry [VIDEO]

Generally, most major sporting event commercials leave us feeling a little skeeved out. We don’t like to lump everyone in together on this — but when some companies try to target the bro-iest sectors of the population the results are, predictably, ugly.
But not the Olympics. As the Hallmark card equivalent of competitive athletics, the Olympics bring out the warmest and fuzziest in everyone. And we couldn’t be happier that the corporate kick-off for the world’s summer games has begun. Sure, it’s lame that we have to economize every second of our globe’s athletic prowess but at least the commercials are sort of fun. And this latest spot from Proctor & Gamble, a veritable salute to mom-hood, is no exception.
The commercial posits a world in which child athletes from every corner of the globe grow up to be highly skilled fonts of maternal pride. It’s as tear-jerking as it is kind of depressing, you non-balance-beaming embarrassment to your name and family. What you’re sending your mom flowers for Mother’s Day? These kids are sending their moms gold medals.
Watch below and prepare to feel misty-eyed — and kind of like a failure.
