Boy Band, One Direction Declines White House Easter Egg Roll Invitation
6:15 pm, April 2nd | by Laura Donovan
First lady Michelle Obama has the love of heart-on-her-sleeve poppy songstress Taylor Swift, but perhaps not the utmost admiration of up and coming boy band One Direction. The group of Irish-British lads, who croon the catchy hit, “What Makes You Beautiful” (yeah, it’s on my iPod, don’t hate), reportedly denied the FOTUS’s invitation to the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll. I’m not even a teenager and I want to attend that!
The band reportedly said no to the event “due to prior commitments,” but this isn’t exactly a diss. A source told The Sun that the guys would “love to go another time.” You may be doing your part to revive the boy band (oh, thank God, I was worried my future kids would never experience the joy of falling for male popstars such as Lance Bass and Chris Trousdale), but I’m pretty sure most people don’t just get “another time” to hang out at the White House, even though the first children appear to think you’re dreamy and what not. That won’t last long, as Malia Obama’s 14th birthday is right around the corner.
Just because, here’s a video of their chart-topping song. Too bad they won’t be performing it on the White House lawn!
