Pelosi: GOP “Tattooed” With Limbaugh’s Contraception Comments
6:00 pm, March 2nd | by Laura Donovan
In school, did your teacher ever punish the entire class for the misbehavior of one student?
That’s the kind of treatment the Republican party is going to get thanks to conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh, who came under fire this week for labeling Georgetown student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” for wanting to testify for contraception coverage by religious institutions and employers, says House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. According to the California Democrat, Limbaugh may have spoiled the conservative messages for his peers.
Speaking to The Washington Post‘s Greg Sargent, Pelosi said she was surprised that GOP leaders hadn’t spoken out against Limbaugh’s name-calling and that they would pay the price as a result.
“They won’t disassociate themselves from it. They’re tattooed with that,” Pelosi told the Post. “I wouldn’t want those words repeated in my office.”
Pelosi’s comments come the same day Speaker of the House John Boehner described Limbaugh’s remarks as “inappropriate” and GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum dubbed the radio host’s Fluke remarks as “absurd,” so outrage from the right isn’t totally unheard of. The reality, though, is that the party may very well be attached to Limbaugh’s views this election season.
