Penny Marshall and Lorraine Bracco to Play a Couple on Mulaney

As if you weren’t already unreasonably excited for John Mulaney’s eponymous Fox sitcom, things are getting better all the time, just like Paul McCartney promised: TV Line reports that Lorraine Bracco and Penny “Laverne” Marshall have been cast to play a lesbian couple on the show’s second episode. Mulaney follows an aspiring comedian (a fictionalized version of Mulaney himself) as he comes of age while dealing with his roommates, game show host boss (played by Martin Short), and neighbor (Elliott Gould). Marshall and The Sopranos star will play Tutti and Vaughn, friends of Gould’s character Oscar. The series also features SNL‘s Nasim Pedrad as Mulaney’s roommate Jane, a “sweet, intelligent and lazy grade school teacher who doesn’t love her job and wants to make changes but is addicted to procrastinating.”
So it looks like your conservative uncle had reason to be afraid after all — lesbians are taking over, two network sitcoms at a time. And you thought you could placate us by putting two Real L Word alums on VH1 between repeats of Love and Hip Hop and Rob Thomas music videos! IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING AT ALL, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT ONLY CIARA’S VIDEOS CAN SILENCE US.
