5 Awful Instances Of People Declaring Accused And Convicted Killers ‘Hot’

Forget the problem of politicizing tragedy. It’s time to stop sexualizing it.

Less than a week after the horrendous Colorado shooting massacre, young women decided to comment on the suspected gunman’s looks. During the California man’s apparently comatose hearing, females all over took to Twitter to fawn over his appearance. Call me crazy, but I thought being a murderer is a pretty major character flaw. Guess not, according to some people. Time and again, observers of these trials see fit to make gratuitous comments about the ‘good looks’ of the accused. Here are some terrible situations in which private citizens have gushed about the looks of an accused killer.

1.James Holmes

"I mean I thought James Holmes was looking kinda cute in the court room, lololol," wrote one Twitter user. First of all, no. Second of all, anyone who chooses to focus on his appearance owes Holmes's victims and their families an apology.

2.Scott Peterson

On Christmas Eve 2002, Scott Peterson's pregnant wife Laci went missing. After a highly-publicized trial, Peterson, who had been having an affair with another woman, was convicted of killing his spouse. While most would find it disgusting of a man to take the life of his wife and their unborn child, some argued this doesn't take away from the fact that Peterson is like, totally a hottie with a body: "Murderer or not, you must admit that Scott Peterson is a # 1 babe." The Thought Catalog author was of course writing in jest, mocking those who have made this stupid observation.

3.George Huguely

In 2010, University of Virginia athlete George Huguely was charged with the death of classmate, lacrosse player, and former flame Yeardley Love. But of course some would say his 'hot' factor should matter most to us: "He's awfully cute! That should count for something...."
