Queen Elizabeth Channels Her Inner Owen Wilson/Vince Vaughn By Crashing Wedding

When I saw “Wedding Crashers” in 2005, I concluded that I wouldn’t be upset if Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were to show up to my big day. That appears to be the attitude of Frances Canning, the bride who got a surprise visit from Queen Elizabeth at her own wedding.
During a tour of Manchester last week to celebrate her sixtieth anniversary as Britain’s monarch, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were at a luncheon in a room next to the Canning Town Hall ceremony. Right after John and Frances Canning were pronounced married, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip waltzed into the room and gave their blessings.
As reported by TIME, Frances Canning didn’t go Bridezilla on the Queen for becoming the center of attention at someone else’s wedding:
“The Queen spoke to us by our first names. She said I looked lovely and she wanted to wish us all the best for the future.”
As it turns out, her appearance wasn’t a huge surprise to the newly weds. Groom John Canning had heard that the Queen would be in the vicinity of the wedding and sent her a “lighthearted” invitation, which she politely declined. A royal insider told The Sun of this move, “The Queen didn’t want to spoil their day, but did ask if she could meet the bride and groom.”
Well, she sort of did make all eyes go on her, but it looks like the new couple didn’t mind. If she crashes another wedding, the Queen should go the extra mile by following “Wedding Crashers” rule, “no excuses, play like a champion.”
