The Rachel Zoe Project Recap: Shoes, Shoes And Then Some Shoes

On episode 5 of The Rachel Zoe Project…nothing happened. Literally. I mean nothing really ever happens on this show, but I think even Rachel was bored with this one. We will try to make the best of it.
The episode opens with Rachel claiming she is working when she’s actually looking at enormous closets/apartments in New York City to buy. Rachel claims she needs to move there for work, but I am pretty sure she is just doing this so she has an excuse to wear 16 different coats.
Cut to the office with Rachel’s employees (who do not exist outside of the office) as they discuss footwear. Rachel cannot believe it, but she has actually designed shoes that don’t require women to stand on 4-inch stilettos. That’s right. Rachel Zoe has made flats. Or as Rachel calls them: sneakers.
Then there’s a cute interlude where people who shop at Nordstrom get to tour the company and even see Rachel Zoe in the flesh. My favorite part was when they brought up the maxi skirt and everyone’s face went blank. Rachel told the camera that the visitors were going to be soooo disappointed when they saw how totally normal she was! She said this as she walked in wearing seven giant gold chains and the dress Elizabeth Taylor wore in the second hour of Cleopatra.
Finally, we get back to New York where Rachel sees that no progress has been made with her hair salon that is opening, like, tomorrow. Oh well! Let’s go shoe shopping. Didn’t we go shoe shopping in the last episode? I guess you can never have too many shoes, especially when you have six houses.
Finally we get to look at some amazing New York apartments that will mostly be used to house Rachel’s shoes and turbans. Seriously, the one with the terrace is incredible. Rachel’s shoes lead a cushier life than I do.
What will happen next week? Will they buy the apartment? Will Sky Sky wear a fur diaper? Will Mandana bludgeon Rachel to death with a ballet flat? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
