World’s Most Immature Boss Tells Waitress Her Private Breast Pumping Is ‘Disgusting’

“Ew, boobies!”

No, that’s not a 7-year-old boy screaming. It’s a southern California restaurant manager who reportedly berated one of his female servers for pumping her breasts during a work break. Single mother Kristen Joseph attests that her boss at Hennessey’s Tavern in Seal Beach, Calif., forbade her from pumping in his office, as he found it “disgusting.” She explained to CBSLA:

“He said it was disgusting. He said he didn’t want me to spray all over his office. I was just appalled at what he had to say.”

Her boss allegedly went on to say that Joseph could quit if she didn’t like the policy, leading her to run outside and vent to fellow staffers:

“I went outside and I was freaking out and crying. My co-workers tried to calm me down…If I don’t pump, then my breasts are very engorged and they hurt and they leak.”

The manager’s behavior violates California law, which “allows a mother to breastfeed her child in any location, private or public, except the private home or residence of another” where consent is required. He didn’t take it well when the 28-year-old mom told him that, though:

“They have to provide me a safe, sanitary private place. When I told [the manager] it was against the law for him to deny me of that, he kind of just went off.”

So it looks like the weirdo here is Joseph’s superior, who clearly has the maturity level of an elementary school kid.

…in his office, though? What’s the point in having an office if you can’t say, “Get out of my office.”

All that matters here is unconditional support of anything women want.

Yes because we all know women are treated with the utmost respect anywhere and everywhere in the world.

Seriously, though, the scene in my head has him arriving in the office and there she is, pumpin’ away. Then she gets all sassy and he’s bewildered, like on a sitcom…I’m wondering what led to this moment, how their workplace is setup, etc.

I thought that was odd, too. Did he mean the whole office building or his own personal office? Because that would be weird.

Exactly why did she pump her breasts in his office?

You don’t like when a woman has to pump her breast and has no choice ? Yet you guys like to see facials in porn and that’s not disgusting ? You guys compared to older generation men are just immature moma’s boys. Grow up american men cause american women can’t stand you’re immaturity anymore

I suppose this sort of comment is what happens when people spontaneously go crazy as they type or else drink heavily before commenting. “You guys” is offensive, so screw you, and mentioning facials whatsoever is ridiculous and you’re stupid for doing so.

Pretending for a moment that you’re a rationale human being, the article is describing this woman as pumping in her boss’s office. I’d like to know more about this: is it his private office? Is there nowhere else for her to pump? No better time of day? If she has to pump while at work, has she seen a doctor and can a doctor confirm that this is her only option? If it is her boss’s private office and she has no equivalent office space, is it a privately owned business? Does she own a car that she could pump in? The article is written as though she was waiting in his office, pumping away, and immediately began spouting about basic human rights. Honestly, her boss sounds flabbergasted. More information is required.

Also, since this article’s subject matter is about basic human decency, need, comfort, and medical and/or health rights in the workplace, comparing it at all to facials makes you very piggish and I hate you for it. Please, go play in traffic.

The restroom? At home? In her car? If she fills up this quickly, I’m sure a medical doctor can confirm that she has no other choice, but otherwise maybe she should do it before or after work. Also, is she pumping on her break? Does he have to allow her another break? Is she paid for this second break? There’s not enough information here.

Wow, sarcasm versus sarcasm. You must both be right.
