The 10 Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street

Occupy Wall Street’s slogan “We are the 99%” is derived from the idea that they represent the difference in wealth that separates the top 1% and every other American citizen. The top 1% of Americans is defined as anyone who has an annual household income greater than $593,000. So why are multi-millionaire celebrities showing up to offer their support and grab attention? And why is Occupy Wall Street taking them seriously? Here is a list of the 10 richest celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street (they have a combined net worth of $1.255 billion by the way):

So long as they don’t mind paying higher taxes, why should we have a problem with them? They know what we stand for, and if they support it, that means they probably don’t mind chipping in a bit more. Probably some more than others (some are generally philanthropic; some are not).

I don’t see what is wrong if folks in the 1% crowd want to support we 99%ers. So many of the vile greedy soilent green feeders are in the 1/10th of 1%. Our cause is true the problems are real smart people, no matter what your class, sees the sincere outrage of the 99%.

I dont even see the problem as one of just wealth of any kind….it is the ways in which the system has become a tool more easily manipulated by the wealthy than anyone else. The part of the 99% movement that means the most to me is the desire to gain democracy for all the people and to remove those laws that have enabled the rich and corporate interests to have too much influence in government. I dont think the main message here is that there can be no rich at all, although that does have its own ethical platform and certainly some see the only satisfactory endgame as one in which there is not any economic privilege. Still, the larger issue, at least as far as I can tell, and certainly the most pressing, is the corruption of government to the desires of the rich both in the US and also world wide. This is something that democratic citizens, rich, poor and in between, should be able to respect.

Michael Moore will not admit he is part of the 1%.  Yet he is worth 50 Million USD.  There is nothing wrong with him admitting that he has that kind of dough, by lying about it makes him look like an idiot.

Fact: These are all loony tunes leftist kooks that want socialism in America but too bad it will never happen so they should just make it true about their I’ll move to Canada talking points!!!!!

NEW WORD:Ineptocracy (in-ept-o-cra-cy) -A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

68% of the top 1% agree they should be paying more taxes.

It isn’t just about how wealthy you are, but the entire situation we have now where wealth brings access to our elected officials that we as ordinary hardworking citizens in the 99% don’t have.  Wealth buys lobbyists who give to the campaigns so that the congressman or senator votes your way or, in the case of Grover Norquist, he simply does a blackmail routine where you sign  a pledge and if you ever try to raise taxes or eliminate loopholes, he makes sure you know you may not win the next primary.  And, it tends to make all the republicans abide by the Norquist rule.
So, our elections are being bought by the biggest blackmailer and donors.

People still make money in ghastly quasi-communist countries like Canada and Sweden. Get over it, it isn’t Rapacious american Capitalism or peasants in the field communism. You can be against Wall Street, reckless greed and politicians working solely for the benefit of the super rich and corporations and not be a communist.

This is EXACTLY why I hope this Congress adds a provision on the tax forms for individuals to voluntarily contribute more.

Free will. It’s for me to determine, not Washington D.C.

Pop-culture millionaires to the OWS crowd,

    ” I’m not the 1% because I feel bad that I’m rich.”

  • Anonymous

that’s all BS…nobody is preventing those people from paying more taxes, and in fact, there is a place on tax returns where you can elect to do just that…if they really did agree they should be paying more taxes, they’d do it

  • Dana

She and John are flaming capitalists!!!  Stay focused people.

  • Pablo

How many of these people are writing big fat checks? Moore’s dinner tab doesn’t count.

  • YourConscienceSpeaking

A: Because they both are living off of dead Beatles.

  • Gmark

micheal moore is such a hypocrite he actually argued that he isnt rich…..   he is such a liar that he has lied so much that he believes he is not rich what a dumb ass…

  • Fred

that people actually vote for Nancy Pelosi proves that most americans do not have a clue about any candidate they just walk in the booth and vote for whoever the media tells them too …   need an example she is it,  obama in 08  is an example and obama in 2012 hell the media has been pushing for that since 2009

  • Fred

really smart people see that this is America and you can accomplish anything as long as you try….  and all this hate towards people who have been successful and are rich which is the the fricken goal of capitalism makes OWS people look like a bunch of brats who cant get an easy life…..   makes them look like they just want free money , food and  housing and be enslaved by the pied piper of freebies Obama …..
I have no degree ,   We have no rich family members hooking us up but the wife and i make well in to 6 figures a year and we did it by not sitting around and bitching about how hard life is and how some people have all the breaks we went to work and busted our ass and improved our position in life…  You might want to try and put down the protest sign and get  a damn job ,  apply yourself and see what it is like to earn what you get!

  • Gmark

Fred, well said sir. My post was to reek with sarcasm. My family is decidedly in the 99 percentile. However, these bums urinating and defecating in public parks DO SPEAK FOR ME. They have no idea of what they want. They only thing they don’t want is a jobresponsibility.

  • Gmark
