Oh, Ross Mandell, we’ll miss your antics.
As you may recall, Mandell’s the former trader from Sky Capital who was desperate for the limelight and dreamed of one day having his own reality television show (check out some of this spectacular demo tapes below). After he was accused of a $140 million securities fraud scheme, the outlandish and bizarre details of his life just kept rolling in.
One former investor accused him of allegedly executing a phony trade for fertilizer tips. Another claimed that Mandell nabbed investors by promising to get Leonard Nimoy to serve as spokesperson for a new company he planned to launch. The venture, intended to be a Priceline competitor either never existed or never got off the ground, investors claimed.
Well, sadly, our long, strange Mandell saga has come to a close. Last night, Mandell (along with former Sky Capital broker Adam Harrington) was found guilty of securities fraud, according to the Wall Street Journal.
But hey, at least Mandell is planning to appeal the case, according to his attorney. Maybe we’ll get some more courtroom antics after all? In the meantime, let’s take a trip down memory lane:
