Santorum: You’re “Not A Real Republican” If You Haven’t Cussed Out An NYT Reporter

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum displayed some poor judgment recently by using foul language in an interview with New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny — but the former Pennsylvania Senator is not backing down on his comment. In fact, only true right-leaning folks hurl obscenities at New York Times scribes, according to Santorum.

“If you haven’t cursed out a New York Times reporter during the course of a campaign, you’re not really a real Republican, is the way I look at it,” Santorum said during a Monday “Fox and Friends” appearance. “It was just one of these harassing moments, and after having answered the question a few times, sort of comes back with the same old question, the same old spin. I just said, ‘Okay, I’ve had enough of this you-know-what.’ And so that’s what I did. Look, we’re out there slugging away. We’re the candidate out there that’s mixing it up, and we’re mixing it up.”

This comes after Santorum’s Sunday in-person chat with Zeleny, who inquired about the contender’s remark that rival Mitt Romney is the “worst Republican in the country,” which made the father of seven lose composure:

“What speech did you listen to? Stop lying! I said he was the worst Republican to run on the issue of Obamacare. And that’s what I was talking about!…Would you guys quit distorting what I’m saying? I’ve been saying it in every speech: Quit distorting my words, if I see it, it’s bullshit! Come on, man! What are you doing?”

Given the amount of criticism and flak Santorum has received this brutal primary season, it’s a shock he didn’t crack earlier, but curse words will always be outside the boundaries of civil discourse, and taking a few deep breaths before responding to Zeleny likely would have allowed Santorum to avoid this embarrassing, hot-headed reaction.

I’m a Romney supporter, but what Santorum said to the NYT reporter was 100% accurate.  They constantly do that, but only to Conservatives.   When talking about liberals, they make sure they explain what the liberal meant and maybe not what they actually said.  They are good little liberal lapdogs.  And they wonder why American’s have no use for the media anymore.  They are journOlists and not journalists.  It’s always their ideology over their ethics.  Pretty sad.

Is the entire purpose of your comment to denigrate anyone who you believe to be “Liberal” (which, looking at your screen name undoubtedly means anyone who thinks a bit more to center then you obviously do?)  What does this have to do at ALL with the above story?  If you have to use the word ‘liberal’ with such venom, it makes you seems like a radical right-wing crazy.  Are you?  You probably think you are not and that the ten percent of people that think like you represent “American Values”.  I and others are much more likely to hear your message objectively, and therefore pay attention, if it doesn’t drip with invective.  Also, you don’t understand the proper use of an apostrophe.

You’re a sad little person, living a sad little dream.

And you’re an ignorant liberal who refuses to admit what’s in from of his face.

The 10% of people that think like me?  Nice try, 40% believe as I do, another 40% consider themselves I’s and a mere 20% consider themselves loony libs.  Nice try though!

    Rush
Limbaugh and other conservative talk show hosts have expressed their
support for Senator Santorum. Senator Santorum said he is a Conservative
and not a candidate of the Republican Establishment; a candidate of
conservatives loyal to the Republican Party and not ready to align with
the new American Conservative Party. Rush Limbaugh has said repeatedly,
“I am not a Republican, I’m a Conservative.”  Rush Limbaugh has often
criticized and condemned the main-stream news media
for failing to vet President Obama while intentionally but secretly
    ignoring skeletons
    from Santorum’s closet. For
    reporters supporting President Obama’s reelection
to ignore Santorum’s less-than-honorable past is expected; the President
    has a
better chance of winning against Santorum than against Romney: But
Limbaugh’s hypocrisy is inexcusable because he does the same things he
    publicly condemns others for doing.

    Here are examples of
vet-able stories ignored by Rush Limbaugh:

    Santorum put the
    screws to elderly veterans. http://www.disabledveterans.org/2012/01/22/santorum-put-the-screws-to-elderly-veterans/

    Santorum:
    “Libertarians have this
idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do,
government should keep our taxes down, keep our regulations low, and that we
shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural
issues. That is not how traditional conservatives view the world. There is
no such society that I am aware of, where we’ve had radical individualism and
that it succeeds as a culture.”
