#Headdesk: DNC Executive Director Compares Sarah Palin To Voldemort

I celebrated Labor Day Weekend in Vegas, so I understand why it may come as a shock to you that my (nerdy) friends and I spent the whole trip coming up with nicknames for “Harry Potter” villain Lord Voldemort (Voldz is golden). He’s a good topic of discussion, but likening anyone to the fictional bad guy is almost as tasteless as making Hitler comparisons. Nevertheless, DNC executive director Patrick Gaspard drew parallels between former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and Harry Potter’s evil rival at a Monday youth event:

“Think about this for a second. When John McCain was running with ‘that person’ in 2008 – I don’t say that name – it’s like Voldemort, you just [cut yourself off].”

Red Alert Politics reports that the crowd “drowned” Gaspard’s voice out with laughter at the oh-so-hilarious quip. That’s hardly the most offensive thing someone has ever said about the ex-vice presidential contender, but seriously, Palin jokes are so 2008. And the “Harry Potter” franchise finally ended last summer. Get with the times, bro.

Absolutely agree that it’s a dated reference, but it’s no surprise. CNN still reports on “Anonymous” in hilarious ways and pop culture has always seemed impenetrable to politicians and newspeople. Maybe that’s why they stick to hot topics like celebrity fashion and whether Smeagol’s having a baby. Of course, Obama’s in a commercial inviting Harold & Kumar to the convention, so…but Obama may be an anomaly.

Besides, Palin is more like Dobby.

Sarah is timeless, seriously. That chick made me laugh so damn hard I’ll never forget her.

Also, she’s still hilarious on Fox so,she’s not really “so 2008″, IMHO.
