Journalist Who Was (Wrongly) Fired For Stripping To Write A Book

My heart broke for former Houston Chronicle columnist Sarah Tressler when she lost her newspaper position earlier this year for stripping on the side, but it looks like she may come out ahead of the snake who ratted her out. The ex-society reporter, who has a Master’s degree in Journalism from New York University, will publish a book based on entries from her blog, “Diary of an Angry Stripper” this month.
“I wanted to write about things that were bothering me, things that other dancers would complain about and really get things off my chest,” the 29-year-old, who said the publication’s editors axed her for failing to list stripping as a side job during the application process, told FOX411.
While some might sneer at Tressler for choosing to take off her clothes for pay, she made a good point that there are all sorts of different women dancing for a living:
“The girls you see working at strip clubs ranges widely. You have ones that aren’t too well-educated, but then you have girls who are doctors, mothers and have master’s degrees.”
I can’t say her work will be at the top of my “To Read” list, but I’m definitely interested in hearing about how she balanced journalism and stripping. Thankfully, the 210-page book, which is represented by Di Angelo Publications, will be released in less than two weeks.
