Saturday Night Live Also Has Retirement Advice For The Pope
9:30 am, February 18th | by Sarah Devlin
Remember when we had some suggestions for what the pope might do with his free time now that he’s no longer obligated to perform his papal duties? Well, Saturday Night Live had a similar idea in this commercial parody that aired this weekend for Papal Securities.
Papal Securities has been in business since 1415 (the last time a pope resigned) but their only client is Cardinal Ratzinger, played by host Christoph Waltz. You can see the clip below via Hulu, which includes just about every “sunlight over a golden wheat field” and “shot of the ocean at sunset” retirement commercial cliché you can think of, as well as the inspired sight of the ex-pope founding his very own retired guy band.
