Saved By The Bell Provides Your Friday Night Anthem

It’s a dreary Friday and according to Weather.com, a.k.a. our homepage, it’s going to be a dreary weekend as well. With no promise of a deliciously sunny summer day when you can work on your base tan and try all of your city’s newest ice cream flavors, what is there to motivate you? Why shouldn’t you just burrow into the nearest coach and watch Scandal until you deliriously start to believe that you are Olivia Pope and it is you has an incredible collection of griege — gray-beige — suits. In these moments when hope has vanished and ego is conquered and the self is but an empty vessel, there is only one answer, one thing to turn to: Hot Sundae.
For those who are unaware: Hot Sundae was the resident girl band of ’90s teen sitcom Saved By The Bell. It was Hot Sundae that led to Jessie Spano’s now infamous breakdown, provoking a caffeine pill addiction and getting her so excited and leaving her so…SCARED. But before the band went all Behind The Music on a girl, it produced one of the greatest motivational songs of our time. With lines like “”a little work never hurt no one/ it’s the only way to get things done,” Hot Sundae’s “Go For It” is the seminal working woman’s anthem. In fact, if you download the audiobook of Lean In, it’s just “Go For It” on loop. So anytime you’re feeling down this weekend, just watch Jessie, Kelly, and Lisa sprint around a desolate workout room in patterned leotards while singing about how you ain’t seen nothing yet. If that doesn’t lift your spirits, there’s no hope for you. Beat-b-beat-b-b-b-beat, go Bayside!
