Scott Brown Scoffs At Competitor Elizabeth Warren’s Hollywood Support
2:40 pm, February 24th | by Laura Donovan
Move over, Obama: Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren could be the new politico favorite among celebrities.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which declares Warren as Hollywood’s “It Girl,” the senate hopeful will be traveling to sunny Santa Monica next week for a fundraiser at entertainment industry lawyer, Skip Brittenham’s home. Warren has won the hearts of Tinseltown folks before, having garnered campaign donations from Barbra Streisand, Hans Zimmer, and Norman Lear and received public mention by comedian Danny DeVito.
But GOP Senator Scott Brown, Warren’s opponent for the Senate seat, doesn’t seem as impressed by his competitor’s Hollywood popularity as many teeny boppers and young potential voters would be. The Massachusetts Republican said on Thursday, “To go off to Hollywood and get the Barbra Streisand and Danny Devito crowd and get all that Hollywood money smacks in the face of what she’s fighting for, which is the middle class.”
Let’s be real: Brown and Warren haven’t exactly played nice in the election, so it’s hard to determine who is the real bully here. When asked during a debate how she funded law school, Warren said with a laugh, “I kept my clothes on,” an obvious dig at Brown for doing a nude centerfold to pay his Boston College Law School bills. Brown fired back with “Thank God,” equally hurtful and callous. These two clearly overstep boundaries when attacking each other, but Brown shouldn’t blame Warren for being loved among A-listers. As Gretchen Wieners says in Mean Girls, “I’m sorry people are so jealous of me, but I can’t help it that I’m popular.”
