If You Need To Get Laid, Go On Vacation, Says Study

Perhaps it has been too long since you’ve had any sexual trysts, but don’t call yourself an old maid, just go on vacation. New research finds that 40 percent of women under 30 have had a one-night stand on a vacation, meaning nearly half of us twenty-somethings are really good at unplugging (at least professionally, wink wink) during trips.

The study, which was conducted by dating travel site MissTravel.com (which, full disclosure, is a somewhat sketchy site), surveyed 30,000 female members on their sexual behavior during summer holidays. Ten percent of participants said they’ve had one or more lovers during a week-long break and 48 percent admitted to engaging in trysts with men at nightclubs or the bar.

None of this surprises me. For one, many of us are on the road to burning out before 30, so during our rare moments away from the office, we want to be as free as possible. And hey, it’s kind of nice to talk to guys in a non-happy hour setting in which everyone is spent from work and in suffocating, unattractive professional attire.

The site’s CEO Brandon Wade said the same, explaining to the Daily Mail, “It is clear that women become much more sexually liberated when they are out of their comfort zone. Once they get into their bikini or travel to an exciting new city our members’ thoughts turn to sex. This has been true for many centuries – travel is a great aphrodisiac. It shakes up your normal routine and makes everyone, not just women, much more sexually adventurous.”

Let’s not forget that our level of friskiness shoots up during hot months.

In the words of Debby Herbenick, Ph.D. and author of Because It Feels Good, “People tend to feel more sexual in warm weather because they’re visually stimulated by all the flesh on display. And we’re subconsciously reminded of sex because the sun flushes the skin in a very similar way to the glow people have when they are aroused.”

If you are under 30 and tragically put a moratorium on your sex life after you kissed your college days goodbye, just take a trip somewhere and release all your inhibitions while away. It’s a lot more fun to pick that route than grudgingly go to happy hour in your work clothes and talk to guys about what you do for a living. Seriously, I’d rather sleep or eat a cheeseburger in my shower.
