A new Toshiba copier commercial begs several key questions — namely, whether it’s sexist, racist, lazy or all three combined. I’m leaning toward the last option.
In this spot, the spokesmodel leans, bends and gazes provocatively at a Toshiba copier, all while spouting your classic, over-wrought double entendres. Make it stop, guys.
A writeup from WebProNews argues it may be a harmless parody of other sexist commercials. But if so, the line between parody and mimicry is quite blurry. Copyranter, for its part, calls Toshiba’s spots “the sleaziest tech ads out there now.” So, take that into consideration as well — and watch for yourself:
