Sheryl Sandberg Slammed For Claiming It’s “Better” To Marry A Woman

When in doubt, it’s wise to be politically correct…right?
Maybe not. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s recent claim that it’s “better” to marry a woman because household chores will be distributed more evenly among parents didn’t sit well with Susan Hinson, a self-described lesbian LearnVest blogger who attests the powerhouse businesswoman’s generalization is off.
In an article title “Why Sheryl Sandberg Is Wrong: A Lesbian Explains,” Hinson says Sandberg’s research that female partners tend to help out at home more doesn’t correspond her own observations:
[W]e have empirical knowledge in the form of gay friends and straight friends, each in their equivalent of marriage. Regardless of the label on their relationships, each couple has similar struggles—who takes the garbage out, unloads the dishwasher, picks up the kids, takes care of the laundry, etc.
[A]ll these couples have squabbled over who does more than their fair share of chores.
Imagine that: Both straight and homosexual couples fight over who has to clean the kitchen counter tops and keep the sink from overfilling with plates! Sandberg’s heart was surely in the right place when she threw out her theory on ideal home situations, but making blanket statements is never a good idea.
