Did your parents lecture you on sitting up straight back in the day? They had good reason to knock on you for slouching. A new infographic shows that good posture can do everything from boost your metabolism to lower your inhibitions. Mom and dad probably wouldn’t like that last part, but it’s just part of the bargain, right?
Most of you know slumping over is unattractive and could lead to back problems. What you may not know is that straightening up could actually help prevent headaches and improve core strength. You can’t help being stuck at your desk all day, but you can go by the 20/20/20 rule, which is to look at something 20 feet away from 20 seconds every 20 minutes. That’ll make your eyes happy as well as your bones. The infographic below illustrates how to sit up straight properly (it’s not as easy as it sounds, otherwise we’d all look perfect 24/7) and take care of your body. When all else fails, run to the restroom to stretch every hour. That’s my m.o., and it rocks.
