Smith & Wesson’s New Apparel Line: For Women Concerned With Cuteness While Shooting Things

First it was pink guns. Now it’s… firearm fashion?

Gunmaker Smith & Wesson is releasing a new line of firearm-friendly women’s apparel, according to AdWeek, which notes that “finally, women can be armed without sacrificing style” (finally!).

The fashions (if they’re anything like the gunmetal grey jacket AdWeek featured) look kind of military stylish — or “shooty chic,” if you will. They also include “concealed carry pockets,” which sound as terrifying as they do convenient.

Of course, as we learned last week, there was a 61-percent uptick in female gun shoppers between 2009 and 2010, so inventing new things that women gun owners need is far from surprising. And it’ll be nice to know which women may brandish a firearm by looking at their coats.

As a female that is new to shooting range and that culture, there is very little clothing they have at the stores that would fit me as a female. There are certain pieces that provide extra padding (for things like Trap shooting) and it would be great to be able to get that in a size that would fit me as a petite woman and in a color other than camo. I can see that if the line is all pink, then I think the company missed an opportunity, but with so many women at the ranges, I do think that it’s great that Smith & Wesson is trying to appeal to that audience.
