SNL Proves That Blossom Belonged in Barbados

After much celebration, trepidation, and hullabaloo (that’s what we’re going to call it, anonymous commenters, because we’re ladies), new cast member Sasheer Zamata debuted on this weekend’s return episode of SNL alongside smooth operator Drake. The verdict? Her middle name must be Thanksgiving because we’re asking for seconds!
As is tradition with new featured players, Zamata didn’t get an overwhelming amount of airtime but her frequent appearances in solid supporting roles proves that the UCB-trained comedian fits seamlessly into the show. We appreciate SNL‘s light-hand in casting Zamata in sketches; the show could’ve veered into exploitation and tokenism very easily. In her most notable appearance of the night, Zamata gave us a taste of an early ’90s reboot of Blossom in Barbados and now we hunger for nothing else. Can you just imagine the madcap antics Rihanna and Six Dorothy Lemeure would get up to?! All the crop tops?!
So congrats, Sasheer, on the perfect start and your incredibly accurate crotch-patting skills.
