Ha! The DSK Law & Order Episode Was “Quite Annoying” To Write
10:55 am, September 16th | by Hillary Reinsberg
We watched dutifully all summer as the Dominique Strauss-Kahn scandal raged on. So did the writers of Law & Order: SVU! Strauss-Kahn’s drama had all the proper fixings for an episode of the New York City-based crime show: a high-profile defendant, a plaintiff with a complicated past, a sex scandal, expensive Manhattan real estate and overbearing press coverage. But for writers on the show, the ever-changing case turned out to be a headache.
As fellow scribes who spent the summer writing about the situation: we understand. The constant twists and turns in the case left our jaws dropped for a good portion of June and July.
“We had to do rewrites. Everything we had in our initial draft [had to be changed],” a writer on the show told the New York Post.
Of course, the episode will be a fictionalized, albeit thinly veiled version of the story, since the conclusion of the real-life saga probably wasn’t quite dramatic enough for TV. And, in the TV version, Strauss-Kahn will be re-imagined as an Italian dignitary. We hope they name him Dominico!
