Surprise, Surprise: ‘Weight Loss’ Perfume Seems Like Just Another Scam

If you’ve ever had your doubts, the popularity of a new “weight loss perfume” is proof that some will do anything to slim down.
France, land of skinny women and orgasmic carbs, is about to launch Prends-moi (French for “take me”), the world’s first pound-crushing fragrance.
Manufacturers say the product is made to “slim with pleasure” (umm…) and releases B-endorphins, bringing about positive emotions that eliminate the desire to overeat. Before you call BS (believe me, I’ll get to that soon), keep in mind that the company tested the item on female volunteers, 75 percent of which reported the perfume lowered their snack cravings. Another 73 percent said the thing made them feel pleasure. Now that part sounds interesting, not so much the weight loss aspect, but I think Elle Woods puts it best when she makes the case for “happy people”: “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.” Happy people also don’t stress-eat, huh?
As Jezebel put it, there’s something fishy with this thing, which seems to mainly curb one’s hunger. But if you’re willing to get in the 6,000 person line to buy a bottle, just don’t expect it to serve as a gym replacement. Your best bet would probably be to hit the gym during the otherwise long waiting period if you really want to thin out.
