J. Mendel President: More Female Execs Lead To More Respectful Children

Susan Sokol has what you might call an enviable life. These days, she’s the President and COO of J. Mendel, unarguably the world’s foremost fur designer. Before that, she was the President of Vera Wang, unarguably the world’s foremost wedding dress designer. She also counts Calvin Klein as her mentor, and so on and so forth. When she’s not talking shop about mink and sable, she manages to spill out some pretty good insights on the working women of her generation.

GoGirl Finance asked Sokol if her career had made her a better mother. Here’s what she said:

“If nothing else, it’s made me a really good role model for [my son], because through me, he saw what it meant to have a great career with a balanced life. He also learned how to really respect women, which is an important gift that women of my generation gave to the sons that we raised.”
