Meghan McCain Did Not ‘Smear’ Breitbart, So Leave Her Alone

Meghan McCain

Daily Beast columnist and MSNBC contributor Meghan McCain got the Andrew Breitbart treatment Thursday after she, well, said she couldn’t understand the appeal of Andrew Breitbart. While this certainly isn’t a favorable remark about the late conservative activist, it isn’t scathing criticism either, yet the “Dirty Sexy Politics” author received a flood of hateful tweets and comments upon making this innocuous statement. As someone who veers more to the right end of the spectrum, I was disappointed by the response of Republicans, many of which undermined their own arguments by resorting to personal digs at McCain.

Though many callous individuals were quick to celebrate the end of the controversial pundit’s life, many conservative big names made public statements about the sadness they felt over the loss.
