While this certainly isn’t a favorable remark about the late conservative activist, it isn’t scathing criticism either, yet the “Dirty Sexy Politics” author received a flood of hateful tweets and comments upon making this innocuous statement. The reactions to McCain were nasty, gratuitous, malicious, and unbecoming of the GOP. As someone who veers more to the right end of the spectrum, I was disappointed by the response of Republicans, many of which undermined their own arguments by resorting to personal digs at McCain.
