When Ann Romney said earlier this year that “Modern Family” was her favorite show, sitcom creator Steve Levitan found a way to mock the conservative figure for her remark, tweeting, “Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show. We’ll offer her the role of officiant at [gay couple] Mitch & Cam’s wedding. As soon as it’s legal.” Though the program head was quick to use Ann’s fandom against her and the Romneys in a passive manner, “Modern Family” star Julie Bowen recently offered a more understanding approach to the former prospective first lady, an attitude seemingly unheard of among liberal Hollywood types who took pleasure in criticizing Ann during the election.

Us Weekly found it necessary to report on exactly how much the first lady and prospective FLOTUS’s debate outfits are, but the prices are no one’s business.

Can you believe 2012 is coming to a close? And what a year it has been…We’re impressed by the long line of women who have fared well this year, and here are a few who have the potential to inspire excellent Halloween costumes. I know, I know, October 31 may be the last thing on our mind, but if you’re stumped on who to dress up as on the last day of the month, you’ll appreciate our ideas.

I don’t know whether you’re aware, but guys these days can really disappoint (young ladies are guilty of this as well, I’m definitely not exempt). They are taking forever to advance, refuse to settle down or remain faithful, and can make many of us think we must accept some level of disrespect or infidelity if we ever want to get married. So when I saw the 1968 photo of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney beside the words “I LOVE YOU, ANN” written in a heart in the sand, I lamented that this sort of thing doesn’t happen much anymore. Sure the picture is kind of cheesy and florid, but it’s very cute, and anyone who wants to trash it needs a lesson in romance (or should watch “The Notebook” again. Kidding…kind of).

In politics, breaking points are inevitable, and prospective first lady Ann Romney had hers last week when she announced to haters, “Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring.” It was quite a lot of sass from the usually composed woman, who has had a many occasion to lash out and fight back. Perhaps an aggressive response was what people wanted after all, as the mother of five just told Jay Leno that she received praise and “high-fives” for her much-discussed remark. Some opined that she shouldn’t get snippy, but I think hostility is what she has needed to demonstrate all along. Ann will not continue to be pushed around, and while it’s good to ignore nastiness at times, it’s also helpful to stick up for oneself, and that’s what she finally decided to do when she went off about Romney opponents.

No one really seemed to know how to take on Ann Romney in a humorous way this fall — even her parody Twitter account has been dead since September 6th — but that changed this weekend when new cast member Kate McKinnon debuted her Ann Romney impression on SNL’s “Weekend Update.”

Can you believe it has been four months since political commentator Hilary Rosen famously said prospective first lady Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life? It was only a matter of time before another public figure said something equally stupid about the potential FLOTUS. Fox commentator Juan Williams said Tuesday night that Ann “looks to me like a corporate wife. The stories she told about struggles are hard for me to believe. I mean, she’s a very rich woman.”

Are you like, DYING to see Ann Romney’s RNC speech next week? I hate to burst your bubble, fangirls, but unless you attend the actual event, you may not able to watch the potential first lady deliver her speech. Several networks only plan on airing an hour of the convention and will cut off the broadcast before Ms. Romney is set to take the stage.

Remember that time political commentator Hilary Rosen said potential first lady Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life? Yeah, we don’t like bringing up that awful time, either. It brought out the worst in conservatives and liberals alike and added nothing positive to the political discussion. That’s why I’m a little surprised by the audacity of “Married… with Children” star Katey Sagal, who recently went on Comedy Central to quip that Ms. Romney is about as useful as the mold growing on your shower curtain.

If it’s possible, Stephen Colbert may be even more excited about Ann Romney’s Olympic dressage horse than we are.
