Part of being a layout editor for a print publication is formatting. Another is making sure that you’re not pairing an ad with a totally and completely inappropriate article.
You know, like, don’t place a McDonald’s ad next to a story that warns readers about the health risks of fast food. Also, don’t put an ad for cheap airfare next to a story about a plane crash. And definitely, absolutely don’t organize a newspaper page in such a way that it somehow links Father’s Day with spousal abuse.
