We may have been among the many to cheer comedian Bill Maher’s recent New York Times op-ed, in which he implored folks (the colloquial we’ll use here, its deeper meaning being “celebrity types”) to stop apologizing already. Why were we fans? Because, like Maher, we’re a little sick of the faux outrage — and the fake feather-ruffling some do in the name of political pandering.

Everyone knows HBO host Bill Maher oversteps his boundaries and would probably make his girlfriend cry, so I was surprised to find myself agreeing wholeheartedly with his Wednesday New York Times op-ed titled, “Please Stop Apologizing,” which is a call for all of us to stop being so. damn. sensitive.

Just when you thought the Rush Limbaugh/Sandra Fluke debacle couldn’t get any more ridiculous, comedian Bill Maher upped the ante by reminding us that he defended Limbaugh, but that his name-calling of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin was not as bad as the conservative radio host’s “slut” and “prostitute” remarks and was taken out of context.
