Broadway: The Mogul Backup Plan
12:00 pm, May 14th | by Amy Tennery
Despite the proliferation of instant-watch video content, 3-D movies and all those new fangled gadgets we hear the kids are fiddling with these days, Broadway remains the dream for many aspiring actors. They go to acting school, try out improv and post ill-advised examples of their work on YouTube, just in the hope of making it big.
If you’re a mogul, however, the steps toward this dream are rather minimal. The path is so easy, one might not even call it a dream so much as a backup plan. At least that’s what it seems to be for daytime titan Oprah Winfrey.
After dropping her OWN network CEO Christina Norman, Winfrey commented this past week that OWN is “not where I want it to be”, due in part to her ongoing commitment to her day job. Is it possible that Winfrey bit off more than she could chew launching a new channel while still hosting her eponymous talk show? Is Winfrey not Living [her] Best Life!?
