Preachers’ Daughters Makes Me Question Everything About My Beloved Lifetime

I know I say a lot of things are bad for feminism, but Lifetime’s new reality show Preacher’s Daughters really might be the worst.

Lifetime Double Feature: Seventeen And Missing And Accused At 17
12:30 pm, December 3rd | by Sarah Devlin
The Lifetime Network (“TV & Movies For Women”) typically gets a lot of attention when they do something really insane, like casting Rob Lowe as creepy wife-murderer Drew Peterson, or letting Lindsay Lohan play Elizabeth Taylor; or something awesome like hiring an all-black cast for a remake of Steel Magnolias. Those TV events get a lot of attention, but the OG network for women is killing it with their original programming 24/7, 365. It’s in that spirit that I’m making a commitment to reduce my significant DVR backlog by sampling two of their offerings at a time. This week: Seventeen And Missing and Accused At 17.

The Best Reviews Of Liz and Dick

It’s the Lindsay Lohan comeback vehicle that wasn’t. Here are some of the best reactions to the two hour monstrosity (and we mean that in the best way possible) that Lifetime put into everyone’s eyes last night.

Lifetime’s New Reality Series Is About Bra-Shopping
11:45 am, November 20th | by Colette McIntyre
Lifetime, you’re right: you are my life, my time—and, dare I say, so much more. You’re my shoulder to inexplicably weep on, the one who gives me Lindsay when everyone else is too afraid to, my sage advisor in all issues of husband-turned-adulterer-turned-axe murderer-turned-secret-FBI-agent-who-is-addicted-to-Internet-tweet-sex. When I’m ignoring my friends’s calls or texting them elaborate lies that involve the phrase “totally bungled” and just looking to spend a few hours lying prone on my couch, drinking six-dollar “wine product” and feeling the urge to call my mom, I know I can turn to you. You’ll be playing the Project Runwayepisode in which the contestants are visited by their families. How do you always know?

Lifetime Double Feature: A Single Episode Of My Life Is A Lifetime Movie

The OG network for women is killing it with their original programming 24/7, 365. It’s in that spirit that I’m making a commitment to reduce my significant DVR backlog by sampling two of their offerings at a time. This week: a three-week-old episode of My Life Is A Lifetime Movie (What? I said my DVR backlog was serious!)

Lifetime Double Feature: Taken Back: Finding Haley and Stalked At 17
1:30 pm, November 5th | by Sarah Devlin
It was good timing that, during a weekend when I was stuck in my apartment due to Superstorm Sandy and the ensuing public transportation snafus, I had an embarrassment of riches on the old DVR: Stalked At 17, Dead At 17, 17 And Missing, Betrayed At 17, Accused At 17, and Taken Back: Finding Haley.

It’s in that spirit that I sat down to sample two of their latest movies marketed toward women: Last Hours In Suburbia and Sexting In Suburbia. Let’s see what kind of lessons we can learn.
