Journalist Who Was (Wrongly) Fired For Stripping To Write A Book

My heart broke for former Houston Chronicle columnist Sarah Tressler when she lost her newspaper position earlier this year for stripping on the side, but it looks like she may come out ahead of the snake who ratted her out. The ex-society reporter, who has a Master’s degree in Journalism from New York University, will publish a book based on entries from her blog, “Diary of an Angry Stripper” this month.

Houston Chronicle Wrong To Fire Part-Time Stripper

I don’t know how familiar you are with journalism, but it’s a well known fact that the profession doesn’t lend itself to large paychecks. It’s a worthwhile sacrifice for me because I do what I enjoy most all day every day, but salaries in this industry can be difficult to survive on. That’s why I don’t understand why Sarah Tressler, a 29-year-old society columnist for the Houston Chronicle, is receiving backlash and lost her job for holding a side job as a stripper.
In an article published earlier this week in the newspaper for which Tressler writes, colleague Richard Connelly outed his colleague as a reporter by day, “stripper by night.”
