Warren, who has been the subject of frivolous heritage talk this election season and is well-loved among the Hollywood elite, has raised more than $8.6 million for her campaign in the second quarter of 2012, exceeding her first quarter fundraising by $1.7 million.

Given the tense state of the ongoing Scott Brown/Elizabeth Warren war and the Republican Senate candidate’s complaints about the Harvard University professor’s popularity among celebrities, it’s safe to assume Brown will be livid when he hears that “The Office” star John Krasinski, “Good Will Hunting” actor Matt Damon, and “The Town” star Ben Affleck are hosting a big fundraiser for Warren in southern California.

As we’ve mentioned before, the two Massachusetts Senate seat competitors aren’t so good at playing nice with each other, and the most recent insult has come from Brown’s team. Move over, Obama: Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren could be the new politico favorite among celebrities. But GOP Senator Scott Brown, Warren’s opponent for the senate seat, doesn’t seem as impressed by his competitor’s Hollywood popularity as many teeny boppers and young potential voters would be. The Massachusetts Republican said on Thursday, “To go off to Hollywood and get the Barbra Streisand and Danny Devito crowd and get all that Hollywood money smacks in the face of what she’s fighting for, which is the middle class.”
