The Rise And Fall Of Taylor Momsen

Most of you know Taylor Momsen as the irreverent, life-ruining little sister in “Gossip Girl” or as a moody musician who “quit acting ” last year, but I like to remember her as impossibly adorable, brave Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 flick, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” With the holiday season in full swing and Christmas movies on our TV sets, now’s the time to remember what our favorite Christmas movie actors once were (lookin’ at you too, Macaulay Culkin). Things got a little weird for the reportedly volatile Momsen after “The Grinch,” so we’ve taken the liberty of chronicling her downfall. Merry Christmas.

1. In How the Grinch Stole Christmas
I miss these days, hence, I can't stop watching the 2000 Jim Carrey comedy.

So this 2002 film wasn't all that great, but at least Momsen was still acting back then! She's all music, all the time now.
4. In Gossip Girl
Taylor Momsen was happy and ridiculously pretty when Gossip Girl debuted, but like her character Jenny, Taylor sort of went downhill. A source said of the way she eventually approached GG, "She only does [the show] for the money. She works hard on Gossip Girl but doesn't care about the plot or the other cast members. She treats it like a 9-5. No emotional investment."

6. In 2010
During a radio interview , she made an oh-so hilarious joke, "I was raised Catholic. I fucked a priest once -- I'm just kidding." Ha.Ha.
7. Taylor Momsen these days
The ex-actress is all about her band, "The Pretty Reckless." She told ELLE last year, "I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band and that's pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully I'll be able to only do that for the rest of my life." The teenager was reportedly suspended from GG before being written off the show entirely, although she's set to make an appearance for its final season, so we'll see how that goes. Either way, she isn't signed up for anything beyond that, so we're not optimistic...about anything, really.
8. Then and now
In 2000, Taylor was an impressionable 7-year-old with so much ahead. She's since changed her career path, putting music before acting, but doesn't exactly have the best reputation in Hollywood. Oh well. As Momsen would say , "Life is not rainbows and butterflies."
